The organizing committee is proud to announce our third keynote speaker. Bill Schultheiss is a registered professional engineer, a principal with Toole Design Group, and a national leader in sustainable safety. He has focused his career helping communities to transform unsafe, automobile-dominated streets into equitable places that provide people the option to travel safely and comfortably however they choose and to understand the vital role transportation and land-use policies play in improving or harming quality of life, health, safety, economic development, and mobility. He has helped Toole Design Group transform the Cities of Boston, Seattle, and Washington, DC into leading bicycle and pedestrian friendly communities. Other notable projects include the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Separated Bike Lane Design Guide, the Boston Complete Streets Design Guide, and the AASHTO Bicycle Planning & Design Guide (2012 and current update). He enjoys public speaking and enjoys inspiring people to take action in their communities. Bill has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University and is a registered professional engineer in 22 states.
