The organizing committee is proud to announce our first keynote speaker. Peter G. Furth is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Peter has B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is an expert in bicycle transportation, including bikeway design, bicyclist safety, and bicycle network planning and analysis. He is the inventor of the “bicycle priority lane” marking and the “Level of Traffic Stress” method for evaluating bicycle routes and networks. In addition Peter has worked with the city of Boston on their Vision Zero plan. Peter regularly takes students to visit European cities to study transportation planning and practices. We hope his expertise will be a strong bridge between the European and North American participants.
